Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systemssm is a gentle exploration of the various parts of oneself that may at times seem unruly, out of character, or may provide motivation for unwanted behaviors. This model of psychotherapy is a collaborative and non-pathologizing form of therapy in which clients access an innate Self, a core of compassion, curiosity, and calm. Working from this center of compassion, the client brings balance, acceptance, and healing to parts of himself or herself that may have experienced shame, hurt or overwhelming emotions.

The Internal Family Systems model can be used with individuals and couples.

The model was develped by Dr. Richard Schwartz of the Center For Self Leadership. For more information on The Internal Family Systems Model, go to www.selfleadership.org.
